WHAT IS PATIENT ENGAGEMENT?

Patient Engagement in Research is an approach that meaningful and actively includes patients, care partners (e.g., family and friends), and other members of the public in research governance, planning, conduct, and dissemination. It recognizes that these individuals have unique and valuable experiences that can and should drive research and ultimately healthcare. It is one of the key components of patient-oriented research, which focuses on the priorities and outcomes that matter to patients and care partners (and engages them in research).
